Hi. I'm Teresa, and I want you to know that even though life can feel hard, you are not alone.
Life can feel overwhelming, and the steps you need to feel better seem like a lot. If you are on this journey, then you may want someone to walk alongside to help you move forward.
Your journey could include remembering what's important to you. You may need to learn new skills and discover new paths towards a goal. You may want someone there to support you. We can work together to understand what you need from counselling sessions and create a plan that includes building on the strengths you already have, adding new skills, and increasing your capacity to cope.
I am a registered Social Worker with over 20 years of experience providing mental health care to individuals, families, and groups in community and health settings. I am comfortable supporting clients with a wide range of concerns, such as burn out, grief, anxiety/depression, severe illness, stress, relationship and family challenges, ADHD, or life transitions. I work with adults as well as children, youth, and their families . I've worked with interdisciplinary health and wellness teams to support clients of all ages. This has helped me to see a person's challenges through many different perspectives. After all, everyone's path looks different! Most of all, I want you to know that I am relational, compassionate, and creative, and that walking alongside to support you is important to me.
You'll find that I am flexible in my approach, whether it's creating a quiet space to express your concerns, or using creative, visual and playful activities that support your learning needs. I have an eclectic approach and engage a variety of therapeutic models depending on what you need. These include trauma-informed approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-based therapies, Poly-Vagel and Somatic Experiencing.
Feel free to contact me for a free 15 minute phone or video consultation to see how I can support you.
Life can be hard but you're not alone!
